Only thing to have in mind, cloud saving takes some time, so closing Galaxy right after exiting the game may not let it save in the cloud. When Cloud saves fail, your Char will just be saved locally and when syncing is possible, it will be uploaded to the cloud. Only when you have both, game and Galaxy open, the Cloud is being synced with local saves. If you find specific skills aren't working with your class build or you want to try a different path down the skill trees, don't forget you can un-learn skills at a spirit guide (in Devil's Crossing, the spirit guide Sadhina is found in the top corner of the prison area). GOG Cloud saves are just copies of the local saves, so your game is saved local AND in the cloud. I tried the option "Download cloud saves" in the Options menu under "Network" as well, but that just makes my game crash. For the heck of it, I cannot find a similar folder for the GOG Version. The Steam version has a folder somewhere you can just copy the locally stored files and use them.
Having a certain level of distrust in cloud based saves, I wanted to save the files locally as well. (I think there was a prompt and I accepted).
